Christians
are people who have responded to Jesus’ invitation, “Come
follow Me.” We are then invited on a pilgrimage toward
the goal of having our lives transformed into the image and
character of Jesus.
Becoming
His students, His disciples, we learn to live our lives as
He would. “Walk with me and work with me—watch
how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t
lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with
me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matt.
11:29-30 The Message) This pilgrimage is the lifetime process
of intentionally learning to recognize His voice, watching
and learning how He lives life. In the process we learn to
allow His “unforced rhythms of grace” to change
and lead us in all our life’s activities.
Rhythm
of Grace gathers followers of Jesus Christ with the intent
of learning to listen for the voice of God. We come from
various church homes, and many different stages and vocations
in life. Gleaning from church history, we pattern our gatherings
and offerings in a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly
fashion. Each gathering is an opportunity to listen from
the Scriptures and practice some of the classic spiritual
disciplines that instruct us in hearing from the Lord. Recognizing
that all opportunities to be transformed occur in and around
others, we practice listening in community. We learn to give
ourselves in availability and vulnerability to Jesus and
one another.
